Your go to guide for fragrances

May 31, 2022

Finding a scent you love can be challenging, but if you know what you’re looking for, and how to look for it, the experience can be enjoyable, especially when you’re armed with the knowledge of scents to change your daily life. A few online resources to learn which notes you prefer, how to apply and test, and determining your next scent is easier than you think.

First, let's get into some technical details of our fragrances.

Parfum: Contains the highest concentration of fragrance, between 20% to 30% to be more specific. It can easily last for 6 to 8 hours which is the longest as compared to the other categories.

Eau de Parfum (EDP): Can last up to 8-12 hours as its fragrance concentration varies between 15% to 20%. If you have sensitive skin, choose EDP over Parfume.

Eau de Toilette (EDT): Contains 5% to 15% of fragrance concentration and can last for 4 to 5 hours.

Eau de Cologne (EDT): Contains 2% to 4% of fragrance concentration and Eau Fraiche has 1% to 3% of fragrance. And both can last up to 2-3 hours.

Body Spray: Contains 6% to 8% of fragrance concentration and can last up to 4-6 hours.

From choosing the right notes to its lasting power, and ensuring the perfume suits your style, there is a lot to think about before picking up a bottle. Here are few tips

  1. Do Your Research

Researching is key. Learn about different kinds of perfumes, know about the fragrances and notes. Go deeper in detail when it comes to floral or fruity ingredients. Select a fragrance which you feel comfortable with. You can even compare it with the different products that you use on a daily basis and get a hint of the key note, which indeed might help you in choosing the fragrance when it comes to perfumes.

  1. Attention to Notes

Every perfume has different notes. Try and pay attention to it. Some can have a floral and fruity base while others can even have spicy notes. If you like to know more, you can always look up on the internet in detail for a certain perfume blend or ingredient.

  1. Use Sample Perfumes to Identify

The most crucial part of finding your new favorite fragrance is, of course, trying it on. Spray it on a pulse point where your skin is naturally warm, like your wrist or elbow, so the fragrance will really heat up and reveal itself over time.

  1. Know Your Skin

The most crucial part of picking any perfume or beauty product is to identify your skin. Do not go for stronger formulations if you have an extremely sensitive skin as it might even lead to headaches. Know your skin before making a purchase and then pick one accordingly.

It's essential to have a signature scent but it's never a bad idea to explore the realms of senses and emotions. Here are our picks for the different occasions.

For Daytime

Your day mostly involves commuting, working and running errands. You don’t need your show-stopping bottle of scent on an ordinary day. So, choose lighter fragrances like floral, citrusy or earthy. Also, it’s warm outside during the daytime. And heat makes a scent last longer and travel farther.

For Date Nights

You might want to choose a fragrance that is associated with confidence like sweet, woody, spicy or musky. It will help you spark romance while maintaining the avant-garde edge. For a night out with your significant other, you can pick a perfume that you both enjoy.

For Gifting

When you gift your friends a bottle of perfume, you give them a memory and a few emotions. So, it’s a great gift. In a situation when you have to buy perfume for someone else, pick unisex or classic scents. Neutral fragrances are more gracious and inclusive.
